How to Set Up IPTV on an Android TV Box or Google TV

What you need before you start

• An Android TV or Google TV device signed in to your Google account, with the latest system update installed.
• Your IPTV Nord login: server URL, username and password, or the M3U link. Not a customer yet? The free 24-hour trial includes the full channel list, so you can test on this exact device.
• Internet of about 10 Mbps for each Full HD screen and 25 Mbps for each 4K screen.
• Some free storage. The Chromecast with Google TV has very little, so remove apps you never open.

How to install IPTV on Android TV & Google TV

1. Update your device

   On Google TV, open Settings > System > About > System update and install anything offered. On the Nvidia Shield, the same option sits under Device Preferences, then About. An up-to-date system avoids most Google Play install errors.

2. Find TiviMate in Google Play

   On Google TV, select Search at the top of the home screen (or open the Apps tab) and type TiviMate. On older Android TV boxes, open the Google Play Store app and search there. Choose TiviMate IPTV Player. The developer name shown is Armobsoft FZE.

3. Install TiviMate

   Select Install. It takes under a minute on a normal connection. When the button changes, select Open. If Google asks which account to use, pick the one signed in on the TV.

4. Only if TiviMate is missing: use Downloader

   Google Play listings for IPTV players changed several times in 2026. If TiviMate does not appear, install Downloader by AFTVnews from Google Play. Then go to Settings > System > About and press select 7 times on Android TV OS build until you see a developer message. Open Downloader, type 272483 and press Go. When Android asks, allow Downloader under Install unknown apps (on Google TV: Settings > Apps > Security & restrictions > Unknown sources).

5. Add your playlist as Xtream Codes

   In TiviMate, select Add playlist, then Xtream Codes. This login type loads live channels, movies, series and the TV guide in one go, so it is the one we recommend on every Android TV device.

6. Type your server URL, username and password

   Copy the server URL from our email character by character, including http:// and the port number if one is shown. Then enter your username and password. Both are case-sensitive, so a capital letter in the wrong place stops the login. Select Next.

   Using an M3U link instead? Choose M3U playlist in the previous step and paste the whole link.

7. Finish and let the TV guide load

   TiviMate counts the channels, movies and series it found. Select Next, name the playlist, then Done. The TV guide (EPG) fills in over the next minute or two.

8. Add favourites and trim the list

   Press and hold select on a channel you watch often and add it to your favourites. You can also hide channel groups you never use in TiviMate's playlist settings. Want a shorter list overall? Which Google TV and Android TV devices work best for IPTV?

The Google TV Streamer and the Nvidia Shield work best, because both are fast and have an Ethernet port. Any certified Android TV or Google TV device runs TiviMate, though; the differences are storage, speed and wiring.

Best settings for smooth IPTV on Android TV

• Plug in a cable when you can. A wired Google TV Streamer or Shield is steadier than any Wi-Fi setup, especially during big games.
• Turn on auto frame rate. In TiviMate's Playback settings, auto frame rate matching makes sports and movies move more smoothly on TVs that support it.
• Raise the buffer one step in the same Playback menu if a channel stutters now and then.
• Clear the cache monthly. Settings > Apps > See all apps > TiviMate > Clear cache. Your login and favourites stay.
• Restart weekly from Settings > System > Restart.
